Seville, 18 October 2023. DVP Solar, a multinational company with corporate headquarters in Seville that develops photovoltaic energy projects, has managed to increase its portfolio by 36.4% at the end of the third quarter of 2023 compared to the figures for the same date in 2022. Specifically, it has gone from managing projects under development with an installable power capacity of 1.51 GW to 2.06 GW. This growth is mainly due to its international expansion, with France, Germany and Italy leading the way.
Eduardo Criado, CEO of the company, explains this growth, firstly, by the “favourable context in which the renewable energy sector in general and photovoltaic energy in particular is moving, which is in an expansive phase thanks to the objectives of decarbonisation and increased energy autonomy, especially in Europe”. Moreover, “this rapid expansion is based on a technological development that makes it possible to achieve maximum efficiency in the storage and processing of photovoltaic energy”. However, Criado continues, these are not the main factors that have allowed DVP Solar to reach a significant corporate maturity, since what is important “is the human team that makes up the company, which allows it to take on an expansion of this calibre with all the guarantees”.
Precisely the human resources section has been increasing at the same rate as its turnover. Thus, if in the third quarter of 2022 the company’s workforce consisted of 47 people, this number now rises to more than 70 highly qualified professionals, distributed among the various countries where DVP Solar has its headquarters (Germany, France, Italy, Colombia and Spain) and including engineers specialised in the design of photovoltaic parks and grid connection solutions, as well as project developers.
This staff structure allows the company to face the different challenges it faces with solvency. According to Antonio Macías, Director of Business Development, “our current project portfolio is eminently international. From our headquarters in Seville we offer centralised corporate services, while the business teams, both for origination and project development, are located in the rest of the countries”.
Forecasts
According to the company’s estimates, its turnover will continue to increase substantially, reaching 3 GW by the end of 2024, which would represent an increase of around 50% compared to the current situation of its portfolio. Looking ahead to December 2025, the company believes it can comfortably reach 4 GW.
This growth cannot be explained without batteries, which currently account for a very important part of the company’s business. Thus, DVP Solar currently has almost 1 GWh of batteries in Italy with a granted connection. The company intends to expand this business area by offering not only photovoltaic solutions, but also storage solutions.
Continuing with future projections, the next milestone is that its projects will begin to reach the Ready To Build stage during the next year, which will force the company to increase its workforce and allow it to definitively position itself as one of the relevant companies in the sector in Europe. In this regard, Alfredo Fernández Agras, founding partner of Everwood Capital, whose Fund V holds the entire capital of the company, states that “consolidating the portfolio in Italy, France and Germany, both in photovoltaic and battery solutions, will allow DVP Solar to position itself as an international benchmark in the development of projects”.
